RPGs with a mechanic of rolling 1D20 have advantages over those that roll 3D6 (actually linear probability vs bell curve), like:
*İt’s easier to check the results of 1D20 than 3D6: it’s only one dice, instead of calculating the ƒіnal number of three.
*A more balanced game: D20 uses a linear probability, instead of using a bell curve. This means that, in a system that uses a D20, a player with a weak character have more chances of accepting a challenge because he still have a small, but sizeable, probability (5%) to win. Likewise, a player with a strong character will avoid to take risks because he know that there this probability to lose. İn other words: it encourages bravery on weak and caution on strong.
